Fees & Billing

Mixed Billing Practice – Bulk Billing May Be Available

Dr Jay operates as a mixed billing specialist, meaning some consultations may attract a fee while others may be bulk billed depending on your circumstances and GP request.

Key points:

  • Standard consultation fees apply unless otherwise arranged
  • Bulk billing may be available for selected consult types
  • Medicare rebates apply with a valid GP referral
  • Private hospital procedures may have out-of-pocket costs depending on your health fund
  • Public patients can have surgery arranged at Grafton Base Hospital with no hospital fees

If you’re unsure about expected costs, our reception team can assist before your appointment.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

To ensure your consultation runs smoothly, please bring:

  • A valid GP referral (required for Medicare rebates)
  • Medicare card
  • Private health insurance details (if applicable)
  • Previous test results, ultrasounds or scans and cervical screening results if available
  • A list of current medications
  • Any questions or concerns you would like to discuss

If you are pregnant or attending for fertility care, ultrasound records or cycle information may also be helpful.

Preparing for Your Appointment

For Gynaecology Appointments

  • Wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing
  • Avoid internal products (tampons, creams) for 24 hours before your visit if possible
  • If attending for an ultrasound, you may be asked to arrive with a partially full bladder

For Pregnancy Appointments

  • Bring any ultrasound pictures or reports from previous providers
  • Bring maternity health documentation or screening forms if you have them

If specific preparation is required (e.g. for a specialised ultrasound), our team will advise you ahead of time.

Preparing for Surgery or Procedures

If you are booked for a hospital procedure or in-clinic treatment, you will receive clear instructions tailored to your specific procedure. In general:

Before Your Procedure

  • You may be required to fast (for hospital procedures)
  • Arrange transport home if sedation or anaesthetic is used
  • Bring all relevant paperwork and imaging

On the Day

  • Arrive at the advised time
  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Allow extra time for admission and recovery

Our team will ensure you understand each step so you feel fully prepared.

Aftercare & Recovery Information

After your procedure, you will receive personalised instructions that may include:

  • What to expect in the hours or days following
  • Warning signs to look out for
  • When you can return to normal activities
  • Pain management guidance
  • Follow-up appointment schedule

For in-clinic procedures such as IUD insertion, biopsies or colposcopy, recovery is usually brief, and most patients return to regular activities quickly.
